International President Jonathan Majiyagbe's Presidential Celebration
of Intercountry Committees to promote peace and world understanding
was a spectacular success.
Attendance
The event hosted 819
participants including 200 spouses from some 30 countries in Europe,
Africa, the Middle East, Canada, the United States and China.
Following opening statements
from Deputy Mayor Jean Léonetti, Governors Lucien Elégant
and Bernard Bonnes and remarks from President Jonathan Majiyagbe
and RI Director Gennaro Cardinale, 21 speakers sat on a panel
to discuss various Intercountry Committee projects

pass along at the PETS and the District Assembly

information for the Chairman of the ICC Executive Council and
National Coordinators in the Official Directory
- 5. With the Board's
support, propose a resolution at the Council on Legislation
to expand ICCs to all continents (Dr. Gennaro Cardinale).

1730 Peace Award Presentation
Governor Lucien Elégant
presented the award to Mrs. Cécile Farion. All told, Mrs. Farion
has raised 256 children with Down Syndrome (currently caring for
23) and has adopted 13 children.
Closing
Just before ceding
the floor to President Jonathan Majiyagbe, Planning Committee
Chairman Marcel Stéfanski thanked all those who helped organize
the event (praising in particular the governor team: Lucien Elégant
and Bernard Bonnes and director of protocol Ms. Viviane Paseggi
Gibert).
In addition, Mr. Elegant
honored the memory of the late Ade Majiyagbe paying his respects
and bringing the day to a close with Joseph Haydn's Farewell Symphony.

Delightful Reception Deputy
Mayor Dr. Jean Léonetti held a special reception for 200 (International
Rotary dignitaries) on Friday 24 October 2003.
